Man, i haven't posted on here since school ended. Now summer is almost over..I'm both happy and sad. I love summer, but going back to school isn't so bad for me. I feel too lazy once August comes around. Goin to be an upperclassman this year..feels a little weird. I remember Freshman Orientation. I hope this year will be better than last. I don't know what else to say..so bye.
Today is the Last Day of school. Thank God. It's pretty incredible how fast this year has gone by, and for that, I'm very grateful. I was hoping for a better year than I had, in academics as well as other areas of my life. I feel like I wasted my sophomore year. But that's all over now. I'm just glad it's over.
This summer is going to be rough. I have to run 300 miles for cross-country before August 8th, around 6 miles a day. My baseball season is going to drag on into mid-late July. Not happy about that. Other than that, as well as probably parties and trips to the beach mixed in, my summer is really just going to be a break from school. I won't have to think anymore.
Following the success of Fallout 3, Bethesda Softworks and Obsidian Entertainment plan to release the next game in the series, titled New Vegas, in Fall 2010. For those of you who do not know what the Fallout series is about, I'll try to fill you in on the story. Fallout is a post apocalyptic role-playing game set in the United States. The world was ravaged by nuclear fallout after the Great War of 2077. The war itself, started and ended on October 23rd, lasted only two hours, but it caused more damage than all previous wars in history combined. Who struck first was unknown, but the United States and China were among the top missile-firers, because they were in conflict over Alaska for many years prior to the war. The United States government knew that a nuclear war was inevitable, so construction of underground vaults to preserve the human race began many years before the bombs fell. Space in the vaults were limited, so only those deemed worthy of saving were allowed entrance. Those who did not succumb to the nuclear radiation lived after absorbing massive amounts of radiation, turning into ghouls. The world was literally on fire for many years after the war, and living outside was impossible for quite some time.
Fallout: New Vegas takes place in Vegas, Nevada. The city itself was not directly hit by a nuclear bomb, but the effects of radiation still exist in and around the area. The gameplay looks very much similar to Fallout 3, with a few notable changes and general improvements. Many videos have been released showing what the game will look like, and it's obvious that this game will not disappoint Fallout-lovers. Gamers, get ready to submerge yourself in the post-apocalyptic Southwest, armed with high-tech weaponry and meet a whole bunch of creepy, radiation-ravaged creatures.
On Saturday night, Doc reminded us all why he is the best pitcher in the league. Roy suffered consecutive losses in his last two starts against Pittsburgh and Boston. In that span, he gave up eight earned runs and seventeen hits. It looked like he was losing his touch. Once again, people started wondering if trading away 2009 post-season hero Cliff Lee was worth it. I admit, in December I was not pleased with the trade, but Roy proved himself in his first six starts with the Phillies. The team has been in an offensive funk lately, being shut out in five of their last eight games, which is not common for any team let alone a World Series contender. This is why I chose to watch the Flyers play Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Chicago Blackhawks instead.
What I didn't realize was that Roy was pitching a gem. I received a text message that said Roy had not given up a hit or a walk through five innings. Immediately I changed the channel to the Phillies game. As I watched Doc dazzle the Marlins' hitters for the final three innings, I was amazed by how good his pitches were that night. Every pitch of his five-pitch arsenal was working against the Marlins. I knew he was good, but I didn't think he would pitch a perfect game - at least not this early in the year. After all, before Saturday, only nineteen perfect games were thrown in Major League Baseball history. Roy joined Phillies' great Jim Bunning as the only Phillies pitchers to throw a perfect game. Doc usually doesn't crack a smile, even after a win, but on Saturday, he couldn't help it.
